Ammonite which means coiled horn, was an air breathing invertebrate, It looked like an ancestor of the squid except it's body was protected by a coiled, chambered shell. The iridescent colours are caused by the interference with the light that reflected back from the thin layers of aragonite and conchiolin. It's considered to be a protective mineral, providing stability and structure to one's aura.

This specimen showcases the naturally occuring red colors that can often be found within Ammonite. Both sides of this specimen have the red irridecense that Ammonite is known and loved worldwide for.

Red iridescent ammonites, specifically those with the mineral ammolite, are primarily found in Alberta, Canada, and Madagascar. Alberta is the only location where ammolite is commercially mined. The Bearpaw Formation in Alberta is a key source, and Madagascar also yields ammonites with similar iridescent qualities.

This specimen comes from Alberta. This is the exact specimen you'll receive. It measures 3cm x 2.5cm x 1cm. Sizing is approximate.
