If you've heard of the combination of Frankincense and Myrrh, it's probably thanks to the biblical account of the birth of Jesus. According to the book of Matthew, Chapter 2, the Magi, or wise men, followed a bright star in the east to Bethlehem, where Jesus had been born:

And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshiped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh (Matthew 2:11).
