Tanzanite is exclusively found in Tanzania, East Africa, specifically in the Simanjiro District of Manyara Region. It's mined in a small area near the Mererani Hills. This area is located in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. Tanzanite was named after the country of its origin.

Tanzanite is a gorgeous violet blue color and is from the zoisite family. The colour is caused by trace amounts of Vanadium. This mineral belongs to the epidote group.

This small specimen is unique and quite a teasure!
