Of all of the symbols from Norse mythology, Thor's Hammer (Mjolnir) is one of the most historically important, and is probably the best known today. Thor, meaning thunder, originates from the fact that when he used his Hammer against the ennemy, it crashed down with the sound of thunder, hence his name Thor.
