Leopardite, also known as Oncolite is from a family of jaspers referred to as picture jaspers. Others in this family include ocean and leopardskin. Oncolites are sedimentary structures composed of oncoids, which are layered structures formed by cyanobacterial growth. This type of growth refers to photosynthesis and actually produces oxygen. Oncoids often form around a central nucleus such as a shell fragment. This stone usually forms in warm waters.
Most metaphysical information associated with this stone refers to leopardite. It is said to promote acceptance and understanding of yourself and others.
