This apple-green to deep green stone owes its color to trace amounts of nickel and commonly has visible brownish veins and nodules. Chrysoprase is a variety of chalcedony, a type of quartz, known for its vibrant apple green color. The green hue is caused by the presence of nickel. Chrysoprase is a relatively rare gem, and its color can vary from a pale, milky green to a deep, rich green.
