Nuumite, Tumbled Specimen

Nuumite, Tumbled

The image doesn't do these stones justice, as it's hard to capture the true beauty of this shimmering, sparkly gemstone.

Nuumite the oldest living mineral, was formed over three billion years ago. It crystallizes in the forms of laminates. The polished form is black & nearly opaque. The large specimens usually exhibit one colour in the middle and one color around the middle. However, occasionally, several colours are represented in the configuration of the spectrum. This mineral can be used to open, activate and integrate the chakras. It provides for grounding via the chakras to both the earth and etheric bodies. It is useful in removing energy blockages. It can draw energy from the etheric body to restore energy to the physical. It can be used to fill voids or clear muddy areas in the auric fields. It has been used to fill & heal the openings which remain after the removal of undesired implated thought forms originating in other worlds. It provides for a circular energy connecting the crown & the base chakras; it further provides for a spiral of energy which provides for the continuity between the chakras of this plane and the purity of the ethereal body.
It has been used to teach one that the bonds & constraints placed upon a person are self-imposed and easily discarded. It helps on to decide, with the heart, that which is really important and to plan for, and to initiate, the release of any binding ideas.

This mineral possesses a defending quality and is an excellent preventative which will shield one from many forms of negative energy. Simply having a piece of nuumite on ones person brings in this protective, shielding aspect of the stone which works on the physical, etheric & emotional levels.

*Nuumite is found in an area slightly north of Nuuk, Greenland - accessible only by boat.  The area where Nuumite occurs is in the so-called 'Isuakasia' iron ore region, the origin of which dates back almost four billion years. Nuumite has been used rather widely for untold centuries as beads and ornamental stones. The locality is high in the mountains and requires lugging heavy mining equipment up to retrieve the best specimens. These areas produce some of the oldest stones found on earth, and Nuumite falls in this category. Geologically speaking, nuumite is of volcanic origin and was formed about 3 billion years ago. Subsequent influences on the rock (metamorphism) have given rise to the striking mixture of crystals which gives Nuumite its unique appearance. Rocks resembling nuumite are also found in a few minor occurrences in the USA, but it is only in the Greenland type that colouration is developed well enough for the stone to be suitable for gemstones.

Each piece measures approximately 22 - 25 mm. Sold in singles.
